Product Introduction

Silicon Carbide Castable is an unshaped refractory material made from selected silicon carbide aggregates, refractory powders, binders and performance-enhancing additives.

After adding the recommended amount of clean water and mixing evenly, the material can be poured into formwork and compacted by vibration to form a dense monolithic refractory lining.

The high silicon carbide content gives the castable good mechanical strength, abrasion resistance and erosion resistance. It is suitable for furnace and kiln areas exposed to abrasive materials, hot gas flow and demanding operating conditions.

Three grades are available: SICAST85, SICAST80 and SICAST60. The SiC+C content ranges from 58% to 83%, allowing the appropriate grade to be selected according to wear conditions, lining position and mechanical strength requirements.

Features

  • High silicon carbide content.
  • High mechanical strength.
  • Good abrasion resistance.
  • Good erosion resistance.
  • Good resistance to hot gas scouring.
  • High thermal conductivity.
  • Low permanent linear change.
  • Strong monolithic lining structure.
  • Suitable for casting and vibration installation.
  • Suitable for high-wear furnace and kiln areas.
  • Fewer joints than refractory brick linings.
  • Good service stability under suitable operating conditions.

Applications

Silicon Carbide Castable is mainly used in industrial furnace and kiln areas requiring high strength, abrasion resistance and erosion resistance.

Typical applications include:

  • Cement kilns
  • Cement kiln wear-resistant areas
  • Electric arc furnace roofs
  • Steel ladles
  • Metallurgical furnace linings
  • Furnace areas exposed to material scouring
  • High-wear refractory linings
  • Furnace walls and roofs
  • Industrial kiln components
  • Refractory precast shapes

The reference product is specifically listed for different parts of cement kilns, electric arc furnace roofs and steel ladles. The final product grade should be selected according to operating temperature, abrasion conditions, furnace atmosphere and contact materials.
