Product Introduction
Corundum Castable is a high-performance unshaped refractory material made from corundum aggregates, high-purity refractory powders, binders and selected additives.
After adding the recommended amount of clean water and mixing evenly, the material can be poured into formwork and compacted by vibration to form a dense monolithic refractory lining.
The high alumina content and dense structure provide high mechanical strength, good abrasion resistance and reliable stability at elevated temperatures. Corundum Castable is suitable for industrial furnace areas exposed to high temperatures, solid-particle abrasion, hot gas scouring and slag penetration.
Compared with conventional high alumina and mullite castables, Corundum Castable generally provides higher mechanical strength and wear resistance. However, its thermal shock resistance may be lower, so the lining design and heating schedule should be selected according to actual operating conditions.
Features
- High alumina content.
- High bulk density.
- High cold crushing strength.
- Good high-temperature strength.

The reference product is described as resistant to slag erosion, permeability, solid-particle abrasion and high-temperature gas scouring. It can be installed as an integral lining or manufactured into refractory precast shapes.
Applications
Corundum Castable is mainly used as a high-strength and wear-resistant working lining in high-temperature industrial furnaces and thermal equipment.
Typical applications include:
- Molten steel vacuum degassers
- Immersion tube outer linings
- Spray metallurgy equipment
- Argon blowing linings
- LF furnace roofs
- Electric furnace roof triangle areas
- Petrochemical catalytic cracking reactors
- Circulating fluidized bed boilers
- Power plant boilers
- High-temperature wear-resistant linings
- Heating furnaces
- Blast furnace hot stoves
- Ceramic kilns
- Industrial furnace walls and roofs
- Refractory precast components
The suitable grade and lining thickness should be selected according to operating temperature, furnace atmosphere, slag composition, abrasion intensity and thermal cycling conditions. The reference manufacturer lists steelmaking equipment, catalytic cracking reactors, circulating fluidized beds and power plant boilers among its primary applications.
