Product Introduction
Silicon Nitride Bonded Silicon Carbide Brick is a high-performance refractory brick made from selected silicon carbide particles, silicon powder and suitable additives.
The mixed raw materials are formed under high pressure and fired in a nitrogen atmosphere. During the nitriding process, silicon reacts with nitrogen to form a silicon nitride bonding phase that connects the silicon carbide particles and creates a strong refractory structure.
The combination of silicon carbide and silicon nitride provides high mechanical strength, high thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion and good resistance to thermal shock.
Compared with oxide-bonded silicon carbide brick, Silicon Nitride Bonded Silicon Carbide Brick generally has higher high-temperature strength, lower porosity and better resistance to alkali corrosion, oxidation, molten metal penetration and mechanical wear.
It is suitable for severe industrial furnace areas exposed to high temperatures, rapid temperature changes, corrosive gases, molten non-ferrous metals and abrasive materials.
Feature:
- High silicon carbide content.
- Strong silicon nitride bonding structure.
- High cold crushing strength.
- High mechanical strength at elevated temperatures.
- High thermal conductivity.
- Low coefficient of thermal expansion.
- Good thermal shock resistance.
- Good resistance to alkali corrosion.
- Good oxidation resistance.
- Good resistance to molten metal penetration.
- Good wear and abrasion resistance.
- Good resistance to hot gas scouring.
- Low apparent porosity.
- Stable performance under severe operating conditions.
The nitride bonding phase forms a strong structural network around the SiC particles, helping the brick retain mechanical strength under high-temperature and corrosive operating conditions.
Application:
Silicon Nitride Bonded Silicon Carbide Brick is mainly used as a working lining or wear-resistant refractory component in metallurgical furnaces, non-ferrous metal equipment and industrial kilns.
Typical applications include:
- Blast furnace lower shafts
- Blast furnace bosh areas
- Blast furnace tuyere areas
- Blast furnace belly linings
- Aluminum electrolytic cell sidewalls
- Aluminum reduction cells
- Aluminum melting furnaces
- Molten aluminum channels
- Non-ferrous metal smelting furnaces
- Zinc distillation furnaces
- Ceramic kiln furniture
- Kiln shelves and support components
- Waste incinerators
- Industrial gasifiers
- High-temperature gas passages
- High-wear furnace linings
- Other corrosive industrial furnace areas
The product is especially suitable for aluminum electrolytic cell sidewalls because of its resistance to molten aluminum penetration, alkali corrosion and mechanical wear. It is also used in blast-furnace lower-body and bosh areas requiring high strength and thermal conductivity.
The appropriate grade should be selected according to the furnace atmosphere, operating temperature, chemical medium, thermal cycling frequency and required mechanical strength.
