Product Introduction

High Alumina Refractory Ball is a shaped refractory product manufactured from industrial alumina, refractory kaolin and selected alumina-silicate raw materials.

The raw materials are proportioned, mixed, formed into spherical shapes and calcined at high temperature. The spherical structure provides a large heat-transfer surface and allows hot gas to pass through the packed bed while the refractory balls absorb, store and release thermal energy.

High Alumina Refractory Ball provides good mechanical strength, thermal stability, chemical stability and resistance to high temperatures. It is mainly used as heat-storage and heat-exchange media in hot blast stoves, shift converters and other industrial thermal equipment.

Different material grades are available with Al₂O₃ contents from 65% to 95%. Higher-alumina grades generally provide higher bulk density, mechanical strength and refractoriness under load.

Feature:

  • High mechanical strength.
  • Good resistance to compression.
  • Good thermal stability.
  • Good chemical stability.
  • High temperature resistance.
  • Good heat storage capacity.
  • Good heat exchange efficiency.
  • Uniform spherical shape.
  • Large heat-transfer surface.
  • Good gas-flow distribution.
  • Resistant to repeated heating and cooling.
  • Long service life under suitable operating conditions.
  • Different materials and sizes available.
  • Customized production available.

Application:

High Alumina Refractory Ball is mainly used as a heat-storage, heat-transfer or supporting medium in industrial furnaces and chemical equipment.

Typical applications include:

  • Hot blast stoves
  • Steel industry heat-storage equipment
  • Heating shift converters
  • Urea production equipment
  • Fertilizer industry converters
  • Sulfuric acid production equipment
  • Industrial heat exchangers
  • Regenerative heating equipment
  • High-temperature gas treatment equipment
  • Other industrial thermal equipment

Ordinary refractory balls are commonly used in converters and shift converters in sulfuric acid and fertilizer production. High-alumina grades are more suitable for hot blast stoves, heating shift converters and thermal equipment in the urea and steel industries.

The appropriate material grade should be selected according to operating temperature, gas composition, mechanical load, pressure drop, thermal cycling frequency and required heat-storage performance.
